So, I've been looking through the Universities I applied to last year, looking at their specialisations and spending more time looking at the student profiles.
So, I've been looking through the Universities I applied to last year, looking at their specialisations and spending more time looking at the student profiles.
What makes it more complicated is that I can't exactly specify the industry I'm targetting - Strictly speaking, I'm looking at "New Media", but all the schools offer independent courses in Media, Technology, Internet or something else. If only I was thinking of Finance, then picking an MBA course would be so much easier!
Nevertheless, considering that my choice of geographies are limited, I ended up settling on the following: - Columbia - Has great links to traditional media and a communications lab. Definite possibilities for New Media.
- MIT (Sloan) - With such a technical heritage and strong links to internet, telco & technology industries, then definite possibilities here.
- NYU (Stern) - NYU has built a programme that seems to tailor to a diversity of industries and specialisations. Also, being in New York, makes it close to the media empires.
But this also highlighted that Harvard's out! Although Harvard has a great alumni and global connections, it lacks a bit on the media & technology front. So that brings to an end, my deliberations and now, I'm confident about my selections. This also means that my essays (when they're done) will be even more convincing... Let's wait and see! |
