Dates for the program were released this week. It appears that I'll be starting in mid-August. One of the things on my own personal "to-do" list is to run through the subjects and get a feel for which ones would be interesting. It's also a good time to look at the core subjects to see which ones I could be exempted from... assuming I can pass the exam! Dates for the program were released this week. It appears that I'll be starting in mid-August. One of the things on my own personal "to-do" list is to run through the subjects and get a feel for which ones would be interesting. It's also a good time to look at the core subjects to see which ones I could be exempted from. It should be noted that to be exempted from a subject, I will need to sit and pass an exam at the beginning of semester. This week, I spent some hours poring over the subjects in each of the different strands. It was interesting to review the curriculum of each of the schools and confirm where my focus should be. The Columbia web site (at least for admitted students) provides plenty of information that I am running on. As a result of the review, I came up with two short-lists: 1) Subjects I'd like to be exempted from and 2) Subjects that I'd consider taking. Over the coming months, I'll refine my lists to determine where my focus should be. In an effort to understand my own views and how they align with these subjects, I started reviewing my own thoughts on New Media and where the industry was heading. Between now and June, I hope to have a much clearer view of this. I hope to garner industry comment on their views and see how closely it aligns with mine. I sincerely doubt, I'm the only one in this field! As I develop this further, I might have some postings in my blog on my progress and thoughts. In short, this week has been a week of research and reflection. I'm sure the reality of financing and housing will kick in, in the coming weeks! |
